About The Role

The LEAP Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering inclusive, developmentally appropriate activities for Deaf and hearing children and their families through the LEAP Program.

This role promotes strong family and community connections by fostering engagement, inclusion, and early language development.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan, facilitate, and evaluate playgroup sessions, ensuring activities are age-appropriate, engaging, inclusive, and support the social, emotional, and cognitive development of Deaf and hearing children.
  • Create and maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment, ensuring compliance with child protection policies, health and safety regulations, and the parents provide vigilant supervision of their children at all times, including during off-site excursions.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with families, caregivers, and community stakeholders; provide information, resources, and referrals to relevant services; and respond to parents’ concerns with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Manage playgroup and resources, including ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, and ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are met.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of group programs, including setup and pack-down of activities and participation in meetings to discuss progress and key observations.
  • Manage reporting and compliance requirements, including accurate DEX data entry, assisting with grant applications, funding proposals, and meeting obligations under funding agreements and relevant legislation.

 

 

About You

When you apply, please highlight if you have the following skills and experience: 

  • Qualification in Childcare, Community Services, or a related field. 
  • Ability to plan and facilitate engaging group activities for young children and families. 
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, including record-keeping and reporting. 
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Able to work effectively both autonomously and collaboratively. 
  • Current Western Australian Working with Children Check and & NDIS Worker Clearance. 
  • Current driver’s license.  
  • Auslan fluency and understanding of Deaf people, culture and community. 

Bonus Skills & Experience 

  • Experience working with culturally diverse families 
  • Knowledge of grant writing and funding processes.
