Crossing Borders Youth Camp empowers Deaf and hard-of-hearing teens through teamwork, leadership activities, and outdoor adventures. Communication access is a top priority for all campers, with staff who understanding the spectrum of Deaf culture, with representation from the Deaf community, and hard of hearing community and ensure that every camper is included in all activities. Whether it’s through team-building, adventure challenges, or social time, we foster an environment where everyone feels welcome, connected, empowered and a sense of belonging. What should participants pack?
To make the most of their Crossing Borders Youth Camp experience, campers should pack comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and essential personal items. Below is a helpful suggested checklist:
Clothing & Footwear
✅ Comfortable everyday clothing (shorts, t-shirts, long pants, warm layers)
✅ A waterproof jacket
✅ Hat & sunglasses for sun protection
✅ Pajamas & warm socks
✅ Sturdy closed-toe shoes that can go in water for activities
✅ Sandals or slip-on shoes for downtime
Personal Items
✅ Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, etc.)
✅ Towel for showering & swimming
✅ Sunscreen & insect repellent

How Do We Ensure Safety?
At Crossing Borders Youth Camp, the safety and well-being of every camper is our top priority. We have a dedicated wellness coordinator, trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid, who is available throughout the camp to provide support and ensure every camper feels safe, included, and heard.
We also have strict protocols in place to manage dietary requirements, medication plans, and any specific health needs, ensuring that all campers receive the care they need. Our staff is trained in first aid and emergency response, and we maintain a high staff-to-camper ratio to provide close supervision and guidance during all activities.
For Deaf and Hard of Hearing campers, we ensure full communication access, creating an environment where everyone understands what’s happening, can fully participate, and feels included at all times. Safety in outdoor adventures is also a priority, with trained facilitators leading activities and risk assessments conducted before each session.
With a caring and experienced team, clear safety protocols, and a strong commitment to inclusion, we provide a secure and supportive space where campers can focus on fun, friendships, and personal growth—worry- free!
What’s included in the camp fee?
Pick up from Sydney airport upon arrival and drop off to Syndey airport on return.
Full accommodation for camp dates (29th September through to 3rd October 2025)
Full catering from arrival until departure.
Bedding included: top/fitted sheet, bottom/flat sheet, pillow case, blanket/doona & bath towel.
Full itinerary of fun activities like stand up paddleboarding, snorkeling as examples. Group activities like fun rave night and games.
