Aged Care Support Worker (Cairns) - Deaf Connect

Deaf Services and The Deaf Society are currently seeking dedicated Disability and Aged Care Support Worker’s to provide support for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals within the Cairns and surrounding regions.

About the Role

Our Aged Care Support Workers are responsible for providing high quality care to the elderly across a range of in-home care services. The position provides person centred care including meal preparation, cleaning and shopping with clients as well as supporting clients to engage in community life.

The role require candidates who are reliable, able to work independently, have great communication and interpersonal skills and are passionate about truly making a difference to participant’s lives.

About You

The ideal candidates will have:


  • NDIS Worker Screening Card, or willingness to obtain this prior to commencement (or Police Check for Aged Care Support Worker roles)
  • Current Driver’s Licence and use of private car
  • Ability to communicate in Auslan (or willingness to learn)
  • Understanding of privacy and confidentiality issues
  • First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain certificate within 3 months of commencing employment)
  • Certificate III in Community Services (Disability/Aged Care/Community Services) or other relevant qualification (or equivalent work experience)
  • Completed NDIS Worker Orientation (Disability Support Worker roles only)
  • Experience working with deaf and hard of hearing people (desirable)
