Program Coordinator – Community Education (Brisbane or Sydney) - Deaf Connect

Deaf Connect is looking for a Program Coordinator with a passion for designing, developing and evaluating Auslan courses and programs. You will be responsible for designing new delivery options as the organisation grows, ensuring alignment across all deliveries and looking at innovative ways of achieving positive outcomes in the delivery of Auslan Community Education classes and Auslan at Home programs.

About the Role

Current opportunity: 

  • Creating Auslan pathways for students and families, as well as advice on classes or programs needed to ensure students and families’ continuous learning journeys
  • Developing innovative ways of delivering the Auslan classes and programs using latest technologies and second language teaching methodology
  • Identifying opportunities and possibilities by exploring best practice models and reviewing evidence-based research relating to online learning and to video conference delivery 
  • Coordinating program alignment across all deliveries 
  • Leading and documenting industry engagement activities and adjusting course delivery as required
  • Identifying resource needs across the courses and programs and working with the Community Education Team to ensure the development of these meet course and program requirements 
  • Assessing the effectiveness of class materials that are produced with a focus on continuous improvement

About You

To succeed in this role, you’ll have:  

  • Knowledge of the Deaf community, language and culture and proficiency in Auslan 
  • Demonstrated highly developed team leadership and management skills, including the ability to manage change and generate a culture of continuous improvement 
  • Ability to work autonomously 
  • Sound organisational and time management skills 
  • Positive and flexible attitude 
  • Auslan skills 
  • Experience working in an educational design environment (Vocational or Higher Education)  
  • Resource development and program design experience 
  • Degree in Education (desirable)
