Support Coordinator (Central Coast-Newcastle) - Deaf Connect

About the Role

  • Full Time (38 hours per week)
  • Central Coast or Newcastle (including work/travel to other locations as required)

Our Support Coordination Team provides support for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals with NDIS plans to engage with supports and services to enable them to live independently, manage their daily activities and maximise inclusion in community and social activities. Our team works with each individual to discover their own goals and aspirations and work with them to develop skills in managing their own NDIS plans and funding, in a compassionate and caring way.

The Role

This role will require you to support our customers implement their NDIS plans and to enhance their abilities to self-direct their own supports and community participation. As a Support Coordinator you will be required to research, provide information about various supports and services available with the view to promoting the individual’s own personal goals and needs.  This will include monitoring of their plan outcomes, expenditure, prepare for plan reviews and to maintain clear and accurate record keeping of information, time and billing.

Fluency in Auslan and ability to communicate with staff and participants in Auslan will be highly regarded.

Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role you will need:


  • Passionate about provision of high quality person centred supports for our Deaf and hard of hearing individuals
  • Knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme
  • Strong sense of initiative and time management skills
  • Lived experience of disability (your own or someone else’s)
  • Knowledge of the Deaf community
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
  • Knowledge of the Disability Inclusion Act 2014 (NSW) and NDIS Code of Conduct
  • Completed NDIS Worker Orientation
  • Current Driver’s Licence and use of private car
  • Fluency in Auslan


  • Relevant qualification such as a minimum of Cert IV in Disability Services
  • Experience in Support Coordination, disability service and business management
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to engage with participants, their families and service providers
  • Good computer skills
  • Experience working with deaf and hard of hearing people
