Welcome to the Auslan90 – Stay updated with daily 90 seconds of community, local, and international delivered in Auslan and our weekly Deep Dives on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.

Auslan90 provides the day’s top stories in a format designed specifically for Auslan users, as well as weekly ‘deep dive’ videos on certain news-related topics. The Auslan90 team uses a method of translation called “transcreation” that puts sign language front-and-centre for delivering the news.
The Daily News updates are released every weekday at 1:00pm AEST and the Deep Dives are released every Saturday.

But with temperatures rising by 1.5°C, these beloved traditions are increasingly being shaped by a changing climate. In this video we'll explore how hotter summers, a greater risk of bushfires, and more extreme weather events could transform the way Australians experience summer in the years ahead.

The theme for this year's National Week of Deaf People is "Declaring Deaf People’s Human Rights." 20 years ago the UN published a convention on the human rights of people with disabilities, including Deaf people, but that convention doesn't mean governments will automatically change their laws.
Earlier this year in Wales, years of Deaf advocacy successfully resulted in a new act being added to Welsh law to protect and promote Deaf access, support, and British Sign Language. Each country has its own laws, but perhaps Deaf advocates around the world will be able to look at the successful campaign in Wales as a way to make real change.

Can you remember the last time you wrote a letter? Or received one from a friend? Letter writing has long been overtaken by other forms of communication, but the Australian post service still runs nation-wide. While there have been no serious accidents, a series of recent traffic control mistakes at Sydney Airport have raised concerns for some about the risk of a collision. These mistakes - including two planes being directed to the same runway, or a plane being towed into the path of another - are now being investigated by Australia's Safety Transport Bureau to determine how they could have happened.
But does this mean airline flights are more dangerous than they used to be? Or is this just a series of flukes drawing attention? Watch now to learn more about the incidents and what possible causes are being investigated.

Australian travellers have some of the longest flight times in the world, with frequent stopovers between them and their destination at connecting airports in Singapore, Hong Kong, Qatar and more. Currently the longest non-stop commercial passenger flight runs from Singapore to New York, a single 19 hour journey. Recently that record was broken by Australian airline Qantas with the successful test of a 24 hour commercial flight that will establish new direct routes from Australia to the UK and USA.
But experts say that long flights bring greater risks to staff and passengers' health and wellbeing that need to be managed. Traditional flights can have different impacts, all the way from interrupted sleep to serious physical risks like deep vein thrombosis. Australian researchers have been studying ways to mitigate these risks in the difficult confines of an aeroplane.
