Alternatively, if you prefer to learn at your own pace, our Sign Online course offers over 14 hours of videos and fun quizzes to explore.
We offer two beginner levels to get you started:
- Introduction to Auslan 1: This class is perfect if you have no previous experience with Auslan. This is a great first step on your Auslan journey. It’s designed for anyone, with no previous experience or knowledge of Auslan. In this course, we introduce you to the basics of signing in a fun and welcoming way.
Available as a face-to-face or guided online class.
- Sign Online: This class is perfect if you have no previous experience with Auslan. If you need a flexible way to learn, Sign Online is for you. This self-paced online course lets you learn Auslan whenever and wherever it suits you. It includes over 14 hours of video content and interactive quizzes to guide your learning.
Sign Online has no pre-requisites, and is on the same level as Introduction to Auslan 1.
- Introduction to Auslan 2: If you have already completed Introduction to Auslan 1, or similar, this class will build on what you know. This course is for those who have already completed Introduction to Auslan 1, Sign Online, or have some previous beginner Auslan experience. You will expand on what you’ve learned and grow your conversational skills.

This is our first beginners course and offers a basic introduction to signing in Auslan. ITA 1 is designed for people with no previous language skill or knowledge of Auslan. | Designed to build on the skills and knowledge learnt in the Introduction course. This course has a pre-requisite of completion of ITA 1 or prior Auslan experience. | Sign Online offers the flexibility of self-guided and self-paced online learning with over 14 hours of interative quizzes and video content. |
