Overview

Deaf Connect offers a range of Auslan classes aimed at introducing basic Auslan conversational skills to participants.

You will learn basic skills to communicate with Deaf people in Auslan on a range of topics that involve simple, everyday language.

The community courses are easy, fun, informal and relaxed and is delivered both face to face and online.

SIGN ONLINE (SELF-PACED)

This is our first beginners course and offers a basic introduction to signing in Auslan. 

ITA 1 is designed for people with no previous language skill or knowledge of Auslan.


Designed to build on the skills and knowledge learnt in the Introduction course. 

This course has a pre-requisite of completion of ITA 1 or prior Auslan experience.

Introduction to Auslan 1 (Online) and Introduction to Auslan 2 (Online) are based on New South Wales curriculum. As delivery is online, all are available Australia wide.


All classes are set to Australian Eastern Standard Time during the daylight saving period (Brisbane time).

Auslan Immersion Weekend (Sunshine Coast)

Join our very first Auslan Camp for Beginner Class students!

Immerse yourself in Auslan for a weekend and challenge yourself to communicate in an entirely visual environment. Step into the ‘Deaf World’ and improve your signing, experience Deaf culture and meet new people in the process.  

  • Connect with other Auslan students  
  • Improve your confidence and communication skills  
  • Learn Auslan through challenging and fun activities  

Date: Friday 4th August 4pm to Sunday 6th August 1pm 

Venue: Sunshine Coast Recreation Centre 80 Currimundi Road Currimundi 

Cost: Early Bird $275* Full Price $300* (+booking fee)
