What is it?
Embarking on an adventure | The Gallaudet University Immersion Program (GUIP) is a unique initiative designed for Australian Deaf individuals eager to fully immerse themselves in the educational and cultural experiences at Gallaudet University.
This three-week program will immerse yourself in Gallaudet University life, as well as involving engaging events, classroom observations, and exploration of the vibrant Deaf ecosystem in Washington D.C., USA.

Good to know
To join this adventure, here’s what you need:
- Deaf & Fluent in Auslan | Deaf and fluent in Auslan.
- Build Your Leadership Skills | Have a passion for Deaf Leadership and contribute to the growth of this field in Australia.
- Open to Learning | Familiar with basic ASL and/or International Sign.
- 18 or Above | Age must be 18 or above by 1 October 2026
- Follow the Rules | Agree to the Participation Agreement.
- Chip in | Contribute $1,000 (AUD) towards the journey and have a valid passport.
- Be an Ambassador | Ready to represent Deaf Connect proudly.
- Contribute Beyond | Commit to helping with relevant Deaf Connect initiatives for the next 12 months.
