Team Lead – Speech Language Pathology

Deaf Connect are seeking an experienced Speech Language Pathologist with leadership skills to support and coordinate a team while maintaining a clinical caseload. This role offers a great opportunity to grow your leadership experience in a supportive NFP environment. 

The Speech Language Pathology (SLP) Team Lead manages the day-to-day operations of the SLP team across Therapy and Family Services. The role includes liaising between team members, the ECDP Head of Specialist Education Services (HOSES) and staff, and the Clinical Manager, Therapy Services. This role also includes a clinical caseload. The SLP Team Lead is based at Yeerongpilly for face-to-face purposes, maintaining a regular presence for in-person attendance at key meetings, supervision, and team collaboration, with a minimum of three days per week required. 

Main responsibilities of the role include: 

• Coordinate the Speech Pathology team, including holding regular meetings and assisting with scheduling. 
• Allocate caseloads for NDIS services so team members are able to meet billable targets.
• Support SLP therapists to problem-solve situations with clients, families, and staff, acting as the initial escalation point for complex cases. Provide clinical guidance and escalate to the Clinical Manager as required.
• Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of effective parent-professional partnerships to optimize child and family outcomes.
• Receive sick leave notifications and liaise with the Admin team for cancellation notifications.
• Provide orientation for new SLP staff.
• Complete performance appraisals, e.g. Achievement & Development Plans, for team members to foster continuous learning and professional growth, and provide structured feedback to support skill development and team collaboration.
• Assess, treat, and manage children based on their individual needs by conducting assessments, developing and implementing tailored therapy programs, providing effective clinical management, and maintaining accurate case notes and reports, including NDIS end-of-plan reports.
