Learning Pathway: In this topic you will identify your learning needs, develop strategies and learning goals to help you achieve your study. 

Units of Competency :
FSKLRG004 – Use short and simple strategies for work related learning.
*Units in this course are taken from FSK10119 Certificate I in Access to Vocational Pathways and are subject to change

English: This topic will help you improve your reading and writing skills for the workplace and everyday life.

Unit of Competency:
FSKRDG002 – Read and respond to short and simple workplace signs and symbols
FSKRDG005 - Read amd respond to simple and familiar workplace procedures.
FSKWTG001 – Complete personal details on extremely simple and short workplace forms
FSKWTG002 – write short and simple workplace formatted texts

If you decide to re-enrol into Semester 2 2024, the topics that will be covered are:

Maths and Money: You will develop a range of numeracy skills and learn how to use money in the workplace and in everyday life. You will also learn about preparing a budget.  

Unit of Competency
FSKNUM001 – Use beginning whole number skills and money up to 100 for work
FSKNUM002 – Use the beginning skills related to time and 2D shapes for work
VU22104 – Prepare simple budgets

Digital Technology: Learn how to use a computer, the internet, email and Microsoft Office. Also learn how to complete workplace and everyday tasks using technology.  

Unit of Competency
FSKDIG001 – Use digital technology for short and basic workplace tasks
FSKDIG002 - Use technology for routine and simple workplace tasks

Career pathway: This topic will help you identify your career goals. Also learn how to create some strategies that will help you achieve your goals.

These accredited courses are designed for people who are Deaf and hard of hearing adults aged 15 or over.

Due to our training being subsidised by the QLD Government, our courses are fee-free for people who are eligible.

You will need:

Proof of citizenship in the form of one of the following:
• Australian or New Zealand Birth Certificate
• Australian or New Zealand Passport
• Green Medicare card
• Naturalisation Certificate
• Humanitarian VISA
• Certificate of Evidence of Resident Status (Permanent Resident)

Proof of residency or employment in the form of one of the following:
• Current driver’s license
• Health Care card or Pension card
• Proof of Age card
• Letter or email form employer to show the street address where you are working
• Utilities account relating to your address within the last 3 months of rental document

Proof of disability in the form of one of the following:
• Disability Support Pension card
• Letter form a medical practitioner
• Letter from a health professional
• Letter from a government agency
• Letter from a school counsellor

We’re delivering a foundational skills course for Semester 1 2024 from our Brisbane offices.

The Community Foundation Skills offers assistance to people who need to improve their reading, writing, maths, or computer skills to equip them with the knowledge and confidence necessary to take on further education, training or enhance employment opportunities.
