National Week of Deaf People brought our community together to celebrate culture, language, and connection coast to coast. This year’s theme, “No Human Rights Without Sign Language Rights,” was at the heart of every gathering.
We shared stories, played games, and reflected on our rich history at events like the Deaf Culture Catch Up on the Gold Coast and Trivia & Games in Lismore. Community BBQs and lawn bowls in Cairns, Darwin, and Adelaide filled the week with laughter and friendship. Our Deaf Artist Tours in Melbourne and Canberra, Deaf Culture at MOBO in Brisbane, and Deafinitely Pizza in Townsville showed the creativity and spirit of our community. Friendly catch-ups in Hobart and on the Sunshine Coast rounded out an unforgettable week.
