Achieving the Conference Level Interpreter Certification (CCI)
In this conversation, we celebrated the achievement of Conference Level (Level 4) interpreting certification and reflected on the journey it took to get there.
After a lengthy ten‑week wait for results, the achievement brought a deep sense of pride and validation—recognising years of hard work, skill development, and commitment to the interpreting profession.
We explored what conference-level interpreting involves: highly complex, specialist work delivered with precision and accuracy in demanding environments. The discussion traced a career path that began at entry level, progressed through certified and executive interpreting roles, and was shaped by saying yes to opportunities, learning from experienced colleagues, and embracing constructive feedback.
A key theme was the importance of honestly confronting weaknesses in order to grow—a challenge supported through formal study and continuous self-reflection. Looking ahead, this milestone opens doors to more team-based conference work, broader professional recognition, and exciting possibilities, including international opportunities and major global events.
