Deaf Connect is a proud Gold sponsor of this year’s NAIDOC celebrations in Cairns – our 8th consecutive year in support of NAIDOC and the cairns Deaf Community.
As part of our sponsorship, a number of community and ticketed events will be Auslan interpreted.
Friday in the park
Friday 5th July 2024, 10:00am – 5:00pm, Fogarty Park, Cairns Esplanade
Cairns NAIDOC Friday in the Park brings our people together, organisations and agencies with their stalls, Indigenous business enterprises selling their wares and arts and crafts. Food will also be available for purchase. Check out the entertainment with singers, bands and dance groups displaying our cultural practices and history.
Deaf Connect will be present with a stall at the event, and the on-stage formalities will include Auslan Interpreters provided by Deaf Connect.
Elders’ Luncheon
Saturday 6th July 2024, 10:30am – 2:00pm, Nintiringanyi Cultural Training Centre, 16-18 McCormack St, Mooroobool
An afternoon of music and dance organised specifically for Elders. A two-course meal with live entertainment will be provided.
Pre-Registration is essential as numbers are limited. Bring your loved ones along for a great time. Carers welcome. This event is proudly sponsored by ADA Australia.
This National NAIDOC Week activity is funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency. Auslan Interpreters provided by Deaf Connect.
Wuchopperen Community Day
Wednesday 10th July 2024, 1:00pm – 5:00pm, Wuchopperen Health Service, 6 Moignard Street, Manoora
Wuchopperen Health Service this year will be hosting their annual NAIDOC Community Day celebrating this years’ theme “KEEP THE FIRE BURNING: BLAK, LOUD, PROUD”. The Wuchopperen NAIDOC Community Day will feature performances from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dance groups, cultural educational games, information stalls from supporting community organisations, delicious free traditional food and various art and craft workshops for the whole family. This event is proudly presented by Wuchopperen Health Service. Auslan Interpreters provided by Deaf Connect. This is a free event.
