Leading Deaf Services in Perth

Deaf Connect provides numerous other services in Perth for Deaf community members, Auslan users, families, students and workplaces. As part of the broader Deaf Society in Perth, Deaf Connect’s services are shaped by lived experience and an understanding of Deaf culture.

In 2023 Access Plus WA Deaf, merged with Deaf Connect to strengthen the existing supports for the WA Deaf community.

"As a Deaf-led organisation we recognise the history of the Access Plus, the work of current and previous staff from that organisation, as well as community members and Elders past and present.

Access Plus has been supporting the Deaf community since 1921. Through this merger, this legacy will be transferred to Deaf Connect, preserving the rich history of the Deaf community in Western Australia.

Deaf Connect look forward to welcoming Access Plus staff to the organisation and working with the Western Australian Deaf community to ensure our service delivery, programs and advocacy are tailored to meet their needs.” - Deaf Connect CEO, Brett Casey (2023)

  • Walk-in community access, information, and community events

Additional Education Programs Perth

Beyond Auslan classes, Deaf Connect delivers several education programs in Perth both for Deaf learners and for those wanting to increase their Deaf awareness. Short courses on a range of different topics are available to Deaf adults wanting to increase their skills and knowledge. While businesses or families wanting to learn Auslan or increase their Deaf awareness can access Deaf awareness training. This is particularly relevant for organisations who may have a Deaf team member and want to ensure that staff can communicate with them effectively, and also for parents who have had their first deaf child and want to introduce their community to understanding the needs of Deaf people. Learning pathways remain flexible, with options that support different goals, schedules and settings.

The full list education services offered in Perth includes:
