🚗 👋 National Week of Deaf People (NWDP) is almost here, and we’re celebrating alongside International Week of Deaf People (IWDP)! Deaf Connect is raising awareness about Deaf culture, sign language, and the challenges faced by the Deaf community. Last year’s billboard campaign was a hit, and we’re bringing it back! Look out for our billboards and get curious about sign language while you wait in traffic.
We need your help! Snap a photo if you see our billboards and post with the hashtag #trafficsigns. Let’s share Deaf stories and signs this week! Together, we can all ‘sign up for sign language rights.’ ✨

NWDP is coming up again, marking a special time for the Deaf community as it coincides with the International Week of Deaf People. This aligns with the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD), a global organisation advocating for the rights of Deaf people worldwide. During this week, we celebrate Deaf culture and language here in Australia.
Deaf Connect uses this week to showcase the Deaf community and raise awareness among the general public about sign language and the challenges the Deaf community faces.
Last year, we launched a massive billboard campaign to highlight these issues, and we’re doing it again this year! We want to encourage the public to get curious about sign language while they’re waiting in traffic and learn more about the Deaf community from their local Deaf leaders.
We need your help to amplify this message! If you see our billboards around, take a photo and post it using the hashtag #trafficsigns. Feel free to share your favorite signs and stories from the Deaf community during this week. Together, we can ensure everyone is “signed up for sign language rights”!
Get involved by taking photos and videos and using our hashtag #trafficsigns.
