Overview:
Deaf Connect is excited to partner with Multicultural NSW to offer a unique professional development opportunity for NSW based Auslan interpreters.
This short course is designed for interpreters who are interested in gaining experience in legal settings, particularly court interpreting. Whether you’re:
- Thinking about applying for your Certified Interpreter qualification down the track,
- Recently qualified and want a clearer understanding of courtroom work, or
- Simply curious about what court interpreting involves,
…this program is a fantastic opportunity to explore this specialist field in a supportive, hands-on environment.
Please note: This course is a mix of 80% online (3 sessions) and 20% in-person (1 session). In-person sessions will require travel from participants. All 4 sessions must be attended for participants to receive their NAATI Recertification Points.
What To Expect
The program includes both virtual and face-to-face sessions, designed to give you:
- A strong foundation in how NSW courtrooms operate,
- Insight into how interpreters work within legal systems,
- Mentoring from experienced court interpreters, and
- A unique chance to interpret in a live court setting with personal feedback.
This is a learning experience, not a test or assessment. It’s all about exposure, confidence-building, and professional growth.
