Tinker Tales is a fun, energetic family performance that combines physical theatre, dance, music, comedy and live construction on stage.

Three performers work together on a bustling building site, creating, repairing and experimenting with all kinds of quirky contraptions. As water sprays, pipes burst, power cuts out and things start to go wrong, the team must work together to fix the chaos before everything falls apart.

The show has very little spoken dialogue, making it highly visual and accessible for a wide range of audiences. Any dialogue is interpreted into International Sign by Deaf performer Ali, with the story primarily told through movement, music, humour and visual storytelling.

Throughout the performance, you’ll watch the construction site come to life right before your eyes. Expect plenty of laughter, unexpected dance breaks, creative problem-solving and a few spectacular mishaps along the way. For the grand finale, the audience is invited to help build a giant plumbing system together.

Perfect for families, budding builders, curious minds and anyone who enjoys hands-on creativity and visual theatre.

Special Sunday Session

While all performances are suitable and enjoyable for families, the Sunday 4 October, 2:30pm performance includes a special post-show Q&A with the Dutch cast. Interpreters will be available, giving Deaf audience members and their families the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about how the show was created and what inspired it.
