This is Auslan90 – Deep Dive, produced by Deaf Connect, supported by SBS.
In addition to our Daily news, Deaf Connect produces ‘deep dive’ videos which provide more detail and context to the biggest stories of the week.
Today’s deep dive focuses on the Coalition’s No Net Zero.
The Liberal Party and National Party Coalition has officially ditched their previous commitment to net-zero emissions, unveiling a bold new energy policy that keeps coal and gas in the mix and opens the door to nuclear power.
It is a vast contrast from the current Labor government’s approach which centres on ambitious but achievable emissions-reduction targets and accelerating the clean-energy transition.
The Coalition argues that their plan puts ‘affordability and reliability’ first – a message aimed at Australians feeling the strain of rising living costs. What could this shift mean for your power bills and Australia’s climate commitments?
Watch the video to find out more.
This project is funded by the Federal Government Department of Social Services Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) program.
