Auslan90 | Deep Dive | Europe Travel Change

Published on: 3rd September 2025

This is Auslan90 – Deep Dive, produced by Deaf Connect, supported by SBS.

In addition to our Daily news, Deaf Connect produces ‘deep dive’ videos which provide more detail and context to the biggest stories of the week.

Today’s deep dive focuses on the ‘Europe Travel Changes’.

Planning a European getaway? From the 12th of October, travellers without European passports heading to one of the 29 Schengen Area countries will face new border control procedures under the ‘Entry/Exit System’ (EES). If you are travelling on an Australian passport, you will need to register with fingerprint scans and have a photo taken upon arrival.

While the system promises greater security and efficiency, travellers should be prepared for longer queues and added checks during the digital rollout. Watch now to find out what to expect – so you don’t get stuck at the border.
