Auslan90 | Deep Dive | UK Dual Citizen Travel Rules

Published on: 11th March 2026

This is Auslan90 – Deep Dive, produced by Deaf Connect, supported by SBS.

In addition to our Daily news, Deaf Connect produces ‘deep dive’ videos which provide more detail and context to the biggest stories of the week.

Today’s Deep Dive focuses on the UK Dual Citizen Travel Rules

New UK entry rules are catching many Australian-British dual citizens off guard, with families suddenly stuck waiting on essential documents before they can travel. One family’s long-planned holiday has already been disrupted after sending passports overseas, only to face unclear processing times and growing anxiety.

With new border rules in effect as of 25th February, some Australians travellers risk being turned away if their documentation is not up to date. The change has not only spelled chaos for many dual citizens with upcoming travel – it also serves as a wake-up call for all Australian travellers, as knowing the rules could be the difference between smooth travel and an unexpected stop at the gate.
