Auslan90 | Deep Dive | What’s Next for AI?

Published on: 10th February 2025

This is Auslan90 – Deep Dive, produced by Deaf Connect, supported by SBS.

In addition to our Daily news, Deaf Connect produces ‘deep dive’ videos which provide more detail and context to the biggest stories of the week.

Today’s deep dive focuses on DeepSeek, a Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) app has recently skyrocketed in popularity, surpassing ChatGPT on Apple’s App Store in the US.  However, with its rapid rise, concerns about safety and information privacy have emerged, leading the Australian Government to ban DeepSeek on all its internal devices.

In this video, we dive into how DeepSeek is following in ChatGPT’s footsteps, what sets it apart, and the key considerations when using powerful chatbots like these, especially potential risks to privacy and security.  These are issues that will be crucial to address as future AI models, including SignGPT, are explored.

This project is funded by the Federal Government Department of Social Services Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) program.
