Champions of Change is a program dedicated to empowering individuals to become agents of change within their local community.
The program equips participants who are deaf and hard of hearing with the skills, confidence, and knowledge to use their voice to identify issues and develop projects that aim to address gender inequality and disrespectful behaviours in their local community.
The program is made up of two full day workshops, themed around respectful relationships, bystander action, advocacy, and preventing family violence. Participants engaged in the program will also work together to develop their own gender equity project and will showcase this at the concluding celebration event.
Auslan interpreters will be involved in the two day program.
Catering will be provided.
The is facilitated by FVREE, the specialised family violence service in Melbourne’s Eastern region, in partnership with Deaf Connect.
