Calling all Deaf creatives!
Deaf Connect is excited to encourage community members to attend Alter State 2024, an event organised by the BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) Creative Access Collective. This event will take place on the 13th of October at North Fitzroy Library.
A Unique Opportunity for d/Deaf and D/disabled BIPoC Creatives
Alter State 2024 offers a fantastic opportunity for Deaf BIPoC artists to showcase their work. This is your chance to share your talents and collaborate with other like-minded artists.
What is Creative Access?
The Creative Access project brings together different art forms, offering a platform for d/Deaf, D/disabled, and Neurodiverse BIPoC artists to express themselves.
The BIPoC Creative Access Collective will be there to guide you through this journey, using tools such as Deaf dance live screen projections, experimentation with embodied sound expression, audio description and associative word stim and tactile play.
This will help artists to share stories around this year’s theme: “My place, my secret reality.”
How to Get Involved
If you’re a BIPoC creative and want to be part of this event, we encourage you to submit your interest. Participants will be selected through an expression of interest process. To apply, visit the following link: MAV Alter State 2024.
Submissions are open now and close on Friday, 13th September 2024.
