Deaf Festival Adelaide & WA Deaf Community Markets: Celebrating Connection and Culture

Published on: 11th November 2025

Over the past few weeks, Deaf Connect teams across the country have been busy celebrating Deaf pride, language, and community at two incredible local events – Deaf Festival Adelaide and the WA Deaf Community Markets.

Deaf Festival Adelaide

Hosted by Deaf Butterfly Effect on Saturday 8 November, this year’s festival filled the Park Lands with laughter, Auslan, and a strong sense of connection. As proud sponsors of this event, Deaf Connect joined hundreds of community members to enjoy a day of performances, stalls, and activities – all created by and for the Deaf community.

One of the festival highlights was the Shining Star Award, which recognises inspiring contributions within the South Australian Deaf community. It was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate each other’s achievements and strengthen local networks.

WA Deaf Community Markets

Over in Perth, our WA team had a fantastic day at the Deaf Community Markets held at Shenton College. The markets brought together Deaf-owned and community-focused businesses, offering everything from handmade crafts to delicious food.

These events are a vital part of keeping our Deaf ecosystem strong, showcasing local talent, supporting Deaf enterprises, and giving everyone a chance to connect in Auslan.
