Parramatta Celebrates Auslan Day 2025

Published on: 13th May 2025

Auslan Day celebrations included a visit from Deaf and hard of hearing students for a day of activities and networking.

To celebrate Auslan Day, Deaf Connect invited Deaf and hard of hearing high school students to our Parramatta office to celebrate being Deaf and the values of using Auslan. This event included fun activities, opportunities to meet Deaf elders and Deaf Indigenous people, networking with Deaf people, and learning about Deaf culture. We also introduced students to the services and opportunities available at Deaf Connect, to inspire them to get involved in community activities and further their learning.

Students attended from Robert Townson High School, Nepean High School, Erskine Park High School, Holroyd High School, and Kiama High School. Our office was packed but both students and staff had a fantastic time exploring around and learning about our services.
