Transcript:
[The presenter is a man with white hair, a salt-and-pepper beard, and is wearing a black t-shirt. He standing in front of a dark grey background and signing directly to the camera.]
So you finished filming your content. Now, how do you edit it?
[The video pauses and blurs while many social media app icons pop up on the screen. The social media network icons are for Instagram, Youtube, X (formerly known as Twitter), TikTok, and Facebook. A title flashes on the screen “social media/How to edit videos”] You might be ready to start editing, but it’s hard to know which app to use. There are so many editing software apps out there. They’re available on computers, iPhones, Androids, and there are so many options, some of which are paid and others that are free. I’d recommend one of the free apps called CapCut. It’s used for simple editing and is perfect for short influencer content. The app is available on iPhone, Android, iPad and computer, so it’s perfect for all devices. I’ll show you some of the features and how to use it.
[Another title appears “How to add/edit the videos”] When you open the app, it’ll look like this. [Screenshot of the app appears next to the presenter.] First, you’ll click on New Project. It’ll then ask you which videos you’d like to upload for editing. Take a look. [He points to the screenshot video that shows the process in the app. He is tapping a big button labeled “New project” and selecting videos to upload.] Once they’re uploaded, you’ll see a timeline or sequence. If you’ve uploaded multiple videos, you’ll see them both on the sequence. You can choose to lengthen or shorten either of the videos and choose where to cut and edit those videos from. Take a look. [He points to the screenshot video again. Here is editing the timeline video view to trim the video length.] When you’re editing, it’s important to ensure the video feels smooth between cuts. It’s also important to keep the video at a maximum of a minute. Any longer, and people tend to lose focus.
[Another title appears “How to add effects”] Now you might like to add some effects to make your content more engaging. I’ll show you how to add some visual graphics to make the content more interesting. [He points to the screenshot video again. Now he taps on a button called “Effects” then “Video effects” and selects one from the list. You can see how the effect has been applied on the timeline.] [Another title appears “How to add captions”] Once you’ve finished editing, and you’re happy with the effects, it’s really important you remember to add captions. There’s different ways to do this via the app. There is an option for automatically generated AI captions, but this is generally they’re spoken English and they can be automatically generated from the audio. As the AI can’t pick up on our signs, there is a process where you can follow along and type the captions as you sign. [He points to the screenshot video again. He taps a button labeled “Captions”, selects a visual style from the list, and then edits the captions by typing them into the text box. Then he taps the “Done” button and you can see the captions in the timeline. From the timeline view he edits how long the captions appear on screen and further tweaks the sizing and placement.] Now you know about the different software editing apps, how to edit and keep your content short and sweet to keep your followers engaged. And remember, it’s vital to add captions to your content so it’s accessible to a wider variety of followers. Now, go and create some exciting new content.
