Richard Dougherty Australia Tour

Published on: 1st October 2025

In August, Deaf Connect were lucky enough to welcome and host Richard Dougherty, a Deaf architect from Gallaudet University (Washington, USA).

During the month of August, Richard visited our offices in four cities – Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, and Brisbane! He attended three of Deaf Connect’s events including the Deaf Space Pilot project in Perth, The Deaf Ecosystem Summit, and Deaf Festival Sydney!

Richard joined us in our Perth office to explore the concept of Deaf Space, sharing his insights from his job as a Deaf Space architect at Gallaudet University, and learning from all of us about our experiences with Deaf Space.

Richard was also a keynote presenter at the Deaf Ecosystem Summit and attended Deaf Festival Sydney, where he chatted with many Deaf community members.

Deaf Connect extends a huge thank you to Richard for contributing and partnering with us during his time here in Australia! We have had a blast and look forward to catching up with him soon!
