Show us your Auslan Day

Published on: 7th April 2026

Auslan Day is almost here, and we want to see how you’re celebrating.

On 13 April, communities across Australia will come together to celebrate Australian Sign Language: the language at the heart of Deaf culture and identity. Whether you’re signing with your family, attending a local event, or simply marking the day, we’d love to see it.

Are you hosting or attending a fun community event we haven’t heard about? Be sure to send in your events and we will feature them on our website! Auslan Day – Deaf Connect

How to share your Auslan Day

It’s simple. Post a photo or video on Instagram or Facebook showing how you’re spending Auslan Day, then:

Tag us: @DeafConnectAU

Use the hashtag: #AuslanDay2026

We’ll be resharing posts to our stories throughout the day, just post and tag us for your chance to be featured.

What can you share?

Anything that shows your connection to Auslan and the Deaf community. Some ideas:

  • A video of you signing your favourite phrase or an Auslan greeting
  • A photo from a local Auslan Day event
  • A moment with your Auslan class or Deaf mates
  • A shout-out to someone who has shaped your Auslan journey
  • Anything that captures what Auslan means to you

There’s no wrong way to celebrate.

Why your story matters

Auslan Day is a national celebration of a language that belongs to our community. When you share your story, you help show the rest of Australia what Auslan means to real people!

Join us on 13 April
