WA 1 Year Anniversary

Published on: 10th February 2025

It has been one whole year since the launch of Ageing Well services in Western Australia! In March 2024, Ageing Well became available for Deaf seniors in Perth, after a long period of community consultation.

Ageing Well provides aged care services to Deaf, Deafblind, and Hard of Hearing seniors across Australia. These services are provided in Auslan, and our team supports seniors’ independence and helps them stay in their homes for longer.

Launching these services in Western Australia was an incredible milestone for the Deaf community in Perth, who had long awaited home care packages in Auslan. In 2024, Deaf Connect celebrated with the community by holding a fantastic launch event where seniors connected with Ageing Well staff.

Deaf Connect General Manager for Ageing Well, Dr Leena Vuorinen, said that this was the first home care service specifically catered to the needs of Deaf seniors in Perth.

“The goal of Ageing Well has always been to ensure seniors can stay in their homes for longer – promoting their independence and nurturing social connections,” Dr Vuorinen said.

Ageing Well provides lots of services, from support with day-to-day tasks to helping with transport, or making sure Deaf seniors stay socially connected as they age.

Stay tuned for more information and announcement of a WA community event coming soon!
