Overview
Deaf Connect provides Speech Language Pathology and Social Work services to Deaf and hard of hearing adults. These services are individualised to each person’s chosen communication style and desired outcomes for therapy.
Speech Language Pathology services are available:
- Face-to-face in Townsville
- Deaf Connect therapists and teachers also travel to Mackay and Cairns bi-monthly to provide assessment and therapy in person.
- Over video conferencing (Telepractice)
Social Work Services are available:
- Face-to-face in Adelaide
- Over video conferencing (Telepractice)
Speech Language Pathology for Adults
Deaf Connect Speech Language Pathologists can work with Deaf and Hard of Hearing adults with a NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) plan to:
- Build confidence when communicating in different settings.
- Improve understanding of the English language.
- Improve understanding of social rules.
- Improve reading and writing skills in English.
- Improve listening skills.
- Improve speech production.
- Use your voice in a healthy way.
- Access technology to improve your communication.
- Access technology to improve your safety.

Social Work
Social work is available to adults who receive NDIS funding, and their family, kinship group, or carers. Deaf Connect Social workers provide counselling, advice and practical and emotional support including:
- Assessment of needs (psychosocial strengths/goals)
- Links with community and support
- Strengthening capacity and life skills
- And more!

Telehealth Support (AU Wide)
If you do not live near one of our offices, we can get you set up for online appointments. Telepractice is available for Speech Language Pathology and Social Work and provides the opportunity for more regular support.
All you need is an internet connection, and an iPad or computer with a webcam and microphone.
