2-Day Courses

Designed for Deaf adults looking to build upon their existing skills, our short courses run once a week for 2 weeks from our Parramatta office.

When: September – November 2026

18-Week Courses

Designed for Deaf adults wanting to build foundational skills, our 18 week courses run once a week for 18 weeks (with a 3 week break)

When: July – December 2026

Using ChatGPT (F2F & Online)

If English is not your first language, ChatGPT can help. Do you write difficult emails, reports, letters? Do you need help to express yourself well? Learn about how ChatGPT can help in your everyday and work life. Bring your laptop. If you don’t have one, you can borrow ours.

Introduction to Artificial Intellegence (AI) (F2F & Online)

Learn what AI is, how it works, and how to use it in everyday life.

You’ll learn: 

  • How to manage cash flow effectively 
  • Learn how superannuation works and why it matters 
  • Introduction to wills

Basics of Video Editing

Learn the basics of video editing, organising and arranging video clips.

Accessing MyGov

From accessing Medicare and Centrelink to viewing your tax details and managing your personal information, myGov is your gateway to many essential government services. Whether you are new to myGov or want to make sure you are using it safely and effectively, this course will help you take control of your digital government access. 

You’ll learn: 

  • What myGov is and why it’s useful
  • How to link services like Medicare, Centrelink, and ATO
  • How to use myGov to manage health records and claims
  • How to keep your account safe and secure

You must have a computer or laptop with a webcam and internet to do this course

You’ll learn:

Enrolment Documents

In order for DC to assess your funding eligibility, you will need to provide some evidence along with your Enrolment Form. 

Proof of citizenship in the form of one of the following: 

  • Australian or New Zealand Birth Certificate 
  • Australian or New Zealand Passport 
  • Green Medicare card 
  • Naturalisation Certificate 
  • Humanitarian VISA 
  • Certificate of Evidence of Resident Status (Permanent Resident) 

Proof of residency or employment in the form of one of the following: 

  • Current driver’s license 
  • Health Care card or Pension card 
  • Proof of Age card 
  • Letter or email form employer to show the street address where you are working 
  • Utilities account relating to your address within the last 3 months of rental document 

Proof of disability in the form of one of the following: 

  • Disability Support Pension card 
  • Letter form a medical practitioner 
  • Letter from a health professional 
  • Letter from a government agency 
  • Letter from a school counsellor 
Funding

This training is funded by the NSW Government. Courses are fee-free for people who meet the eligibility requirements.

Eligibility

Eligibility checklist:

  • Aged 15 or over 
  • Live or work in New South Wales 
  • No longer enrolled in secondary school 

Deaf Connect requires students to undertake a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy (LLND) Test as part of the enrolment process. 

More information will be provided to you upon assessment of your eligibility for your course of choice.

Minimum Age

If you are 15 years of age or older, you can enrol in this course. People under 15 years of age are not eligible to enrol in these classes. 

Can I use NDIS to fund this course?

This course is proudly funded by the NSW Government and is fee-free for eligible students.

Should I study a 2-Day course or 18-Week course?

Choosing which type of course to study really depends on your goals.

2-Day Courses are designed for Deaf and hard-of-hearing adults who are looking to build upon their existing skill or learn new skills to support their professional development or interests. If you’re looking to upskill or looking for to build skills in a shorter amount of time or if you need flexibility around work during the day, a 2-Day course could be a good option.

18-Week Courses are designed for Deaf and hard-of-hearing adults who are looking to build foundational life skills. If you’re not currently working, these skill can help support you to enter the workforce for the first time. 18-week courses run Monday-Friday during the day.

Can I enrol into multiple courses?

Yes! You can enrol in more than one course. Make sure to check course times to avoid overlapping classes.
