National Week of Deaf People 2024!
This year’s National Week of Deaf People campaign is set to be our biggest yet!
We’re kicking things off with billboards launching in Brisbane this week, followed by more across Australia next week. Plus, we have an exciting lineup of events throughout the week!



Deaf Festival Sydney is back for 2024!
This year’s Deaf Festival Sydney was a huge success!

Leonie Jackson Memorial Fund: Update
Recently we commemorated one year since the creation of the Leonie Jackson Memorial Fund. This fund was dedicated to honour the memory of former Deaf Society CEO, Deaf Connect Executive and industry leader Leonie Jackson.
This is an update on a major education grant that was awarded under this fund.



Disability Council NSW Seeking Members
If you’re passionate about accessibility and inclusion and want to help advise the NSW government about disability policy – the Disability Council NSW is seeking new members.



Deaf Basketball Championships
The Deaf Basketball Championships will be in Melbourne on 21-29 September. Deaf Connect is proud to be the sponsor of these Championships and help support the next basketball team to go to the Deaflympics.



NZ First Signs Inspires Family Mentor Program
Our Therapy and Family Services team visited the First Signs Program in New Zealand and their learnings paved the way for our new Family Mentor Program for families of deaf kids. Interested in joining the Family Mentor Program in NSW?



Last few sessions of Auslan Storytime Term 3
There are still a few more Auslan Storytime sessions happening in September before the end of Term 3.  In Townsville, and at Glebe Library and North Ryde Library in Syndey.
