Meet David Collum | Deaf Connect Support Worker
Watch David’s Interview:
“It’s amazing to see support workers and the relationship they have with participants. The support workers truly do care about the participants they work with.”
For Deaf Connect Support Worker, David Collum, every day is different!
In this video, he talks about some of the things he loves about being a support worker at Deaf Connect, like his fortnightly swimming group who learns aquarobics and then has fun time to play, swim and socialise in the pool.
“It’s always a fun time for the group. The support workers are actually involved as well. They will get in the pool with the participants and join in the aquarobics class!”
David has seen firsthand how support workers can make a positive impact and help participants achieve their goals.
Deaf Connect Support Workers can help with a lot more than just day-to-day tasks like cooking or attending appointments. No matter the goals, needs, abilities, or preferences of the participant, our support workers are here to help!
“I have seen participants change in terms of increasing confidence and building trust. I’ve seen them become empowered to be independent and do things they can do just like everyone else.”
