What an incredible day! We were thrilled to welcome our community to celebrate the official opening of Deaf Connect’s new Melbourne office, 250 Victoria Parade on the 29 of October 2025. Guests got an exciting first look at our new space, designed to be a welcoming hub for Deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing Victorians.
During the launch event, speeches were made by Deaf Connect CEO, Brett Casey, Board Chair, Len Bytheway, and Chief Services Officer, Brent Phillips. Here’s what our CEO, Brett Casey, had to say at the occasion:
“Over the years in Australia, we’ve seen how the offices that our Deaf organisations use can become spaces which transform communities. Now, we’re ready to bring that same energy and opportunity here in Melbourne.
This new space opens the door to even more collaboration, community events, and shared culture. It will be a place for new memories to form, for staff to thrive, and for our allies to connect and learn alongside us.
From this location, we’ll continue to deliver a full range of services including Support Services, Ageing Well, Education, Interpreting, and walk-in community access. Our goal is to ensure the Victorian Deaf community has the same opportunities and access to services as those in other states. We’re committed to maintaining an open-door policy – welcoming community members, partners, and supporters alike.”
Thank you to everyone who joined us to mark this special milestone. We welcome community members to come use this office with us. It is a space for partnership and connection; most importantly it is YOUR Deaf space! We are incredibly excited to see 250VP become a vibrant centre for the community, and look forward to all that will be achieved together in this new home!
