Aged Care Rights

We’ve partnered with the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission to develop this video resource discussing your Aged Care Rights as a Deaf senior. Click the video on the side to watch this Auslan Video Resource.

The Australian Government has set up a Charter of Aged Care Rights which includes a range of different rights designed for each person who received government funding for aged care services.

If you think that your rights are not being followed, you can discuss this with your service provider or bring an advocate to help support you with this discussion. You can contact the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) to find an advocate. You can also make a complaint to the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission. Remember it is your right.

Self Care for Deaf Seniors
