Overview

This service is open to Non-Government Organisations operating in Queensland and is funded by Disability and Community Care Services.

The SWITC program is funded by the Queensland Government and creates information access for the below groups:

  • Deaf and hard of hearing
  • Blind or visually impaired
  • Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD)
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders

Through SWITC, a broad range of clients can access information that would otherwise be unavailable due to location, language and limited budgets. There are a variety of services that can assist with communicating to clients:

  • Interpreters – Spoken language, Auslan, face to face, telephone and VRI
  • Translation of documents – CALD and Braille
  • Real time captioning
  • Hearing loops

Booking an interpreter or translator through SWITC is simple. All bookings are processed through an online booking system allowing organisations to make new bookings, monitor current bookings and update their preferences.
