What is Support Work?
Our support workers offer practical, person-centred assistance to support Deaf individuals and Auslan users to manage daily tasks, access services and participate in community life with greater independence and achieve their goals. Auslan support work in Australia can involve:
- Daily Living Assistance: Supporting the participants independent living skills for tasks such as shopping, transport, household routines and personal organisation.
- Appointment and Service Support: Supporting participants to attend medical visits, training or meetings to strengthen understanding and participation.
- Community Participation: Supporting participants to access social connection through events, programs and local activities.
- Goal-Focused Support: Providing support for individuals to work towards their goals including education, employment or personal development objectives.
- Communication Development: Providing supports for participants to develop communication skills and strategies for participating in everyday life
Deaf Connect Support Services
At Deaf Connect, our Deaf support services work to empower Deaf Australians and Auslan Users to achieve their goals and live independently. Access to suppports in Auslan ensure that individuals have clarity on decisions and are able to make their personal decisions through a culturally informed lens.

Our Supports and Services
NDIS Supports
Deaf participants can access our support work services through their NDIS funding for:
- Assistance with daily life at home, in the community, in education and at work
- Improved daily living skills
- Improved relationships
- Increased social and community participation
We charge according to the price limit in the NDIS Support Catalogue.

Deaf seniors can access Ageing Well services through My Aged Care. My Aged Care is a Commonwealth Government funded initiative to provide a variety of in home supports. Australian’s who are over the age of 65 (over 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders) are eligible. The supports that can be provided include:
- assistance with cleaning
- taking people to their local grocery store
- driving you to an appointment
- taking you to social outing or gatherings
- fitting your home with safety equipment such as a shower chair or railing to ensure you don’t fall over
