Meet Kerry Priem | Deaf Connect Support Worker
Watch Kerry’s Interview:
Recently, we asked one of our Support Workers, Kerry Priem, about her role as a Support Worker at Deaf Connect! Here’s what she had to say:
“My role is usually providing support one-on-one. It’s rewarding to see that through supporting participants to gain access, they grow confidence and independence.”
At Deaf Connect, Kerry has worked within group sessions and one-on-one environments and has supported clients of all different abilities, needs and goals!
She has also supported Deafblind participants to help them live independently;
“Deafblind participants use Auslan in various forms. Communication can be made accessible with Comm-Guides using tactile Auslan. Deafblind participants can still be independent and confident, absolutely!”
On helping her participants become confident and independent, Kerry says, “You see them become uplifted and empowered through being able to connect and engage with others in the Deaf community.”
Deaf Connect Support Workers work with a range of clients to help them achieve their goals and participate to the fullest in their daily lives!
